It gives hardware and mechanical teams the workflow software teams have\r\nused for years, full history, branching, review, and change comparison,\r\nadapted for the binary design files that Git alone handles poorly.\r\n\r\nMainstream Git hosting treats a CAD file as an opaque blob: no preview, no\r\nmeaningful diff, no engineering data. Nurbly adds the layer that understands\r\nthe geometry.\r\n\r\n## Workflow\r\n\r\nPush design files from the bundled `nrb` command-line tool or by drag-and-drop\r\nin the browser. Large binaries are stored through a built-in Git type LFS server.\r\nNurbly renders the model in an in-browser 3D viewer, extracts engineering data,\r\nand lets reviewers open a pull request, inspect the change, and merge, all\r\nwithout leaving the browser.\r\n\r\n## Key capabilities\r\n\r\n- **In-browser 3D viewer** with assembly tree, hide/isolate, and live section\r\n cuts. No CAD license needed to review a part.\r\n- **Geometry-aware diff** that classifies every face between two revisions as\r\n added, removed, or unchanged.\r\n- **Automatic engineering data** on upload: mass properties, bill of\r\n materials, assembly structure, and interference (clash) detection.\r\n- **Collaboration layer**: pull requests with reviews and branch protection,\r\n forks, issues, releases, and organizations with role-based access.\r\n- **File locking for binary CAD** through a check-out / check-in model, so two\r\n engineers can't silently overwrite the same part.\r\n- **CAD-native plugins**: a FreeCAD workbench that runs the full check-out /\r\n check-in loop without touching Git, with a KiCad plugin in progress for\r\n electronics design.\r\n\r\n## Status\r\n\r\nNurbly is in active development and currently in alpha. It is free during the\r\nalpha program while early users help shape it.", "key_functions": "- Git-based version control for CAD and design files\r\n- In-browser 3D model viewer (assembly tree, section cuts, hide/isolate)\r\n- Geometry-aware diff between revisions\r\n- Automatic mass properties, BOM, and interference detection on upload\r\n- Large-file storage via a built-in Git LFS server\r\n- Pull requests, review, and branch protection\r\n- Check-out / check-in file locking for binary CAD\r\n- Command-line tool (`nrb`) and browser upload\r\n- FreeCAD plugin, with a KiCad plugin in progress\r\n- Organizations, teams, and role-based access control", "category": {"name": "PLM and PDM", "slug": "plmpdm"}, "tags": [{"name": "3D", "slug": "3d"}, {"name": "Cloud", "slug": "cloud"}, {"name": "Collaboration", "slug": "collaboration"}, {"name": "Document Management", "slug": "document-management"}, {"name": "Electrical", "slug": "electrical"}, {"name": "Free", "slug": "free"}, {"name": "Mechanical", "slug": "mechanical"}, {"name": "Version Control", "slug": "version-control"}], "deployment_types": ["Cloud-based"], "pricing_models": ["Free", "Subscription", "Usage-based"], "business_sizes": ["Small", "Mid-size"], "website_url": "https://nurbly.com", "company_name": "Nurbly", "platforms": "Windows, Linux", "latest_version": "Alpha", "pricing_tiers": [{"name": "Alpha Access", "price": "0.00", "period": "", "description": "Free during the alpha program.
