About SHEAR7

SHEAR7 is an engineering analysis program for predicting the steady-state, cross-flow response of slender offshore structures exposed to vortex-induced vibration (VIV) in uniform or sheared currents. Its mode-superposition approach identifies likely excited modes and evaluates multi-mode non-lock-in and single-mode lock-in response.

Engineers use SHEAR7 to calculate natural frequencies and mode shapes for cables, beams, risers, jumpers, and catenary systems, estimate structural response and drag amplification, and generate data for fatigue assessment. It supports spatially varying currents, user-defined lift and damping data, batch execution from ASCII input files, and coupling through offshore analysis tools including OrcaFlex and Flexcom.

SHEAR7 is distributed by AMOG Consulting, Inc. as a Windows desktop command-line application. Commercial and academic licenses are available by enquiry; public pricing is not listed.
