SketchForge 3D
A free, open-source, local-first 3D design editor for creating, modifying, importing, and exporting models directly in a web browser.
About SketchForge 3D
SketchForge 3D is a free, open-source CAD-style editor for makers, students, educators, FabLabs, and anyone who needs to create useful 3D parts without installing a heavyweight desktop CAD package. Its local-first project workflow keeps designs in browser storage without requiring an account or uploading models to a SketchForge cloud service. CAD Hub also hosts a free SketchForge 3D browser tool that can be launched directly from the site.
The editor provides a 3D workplane with grid snapping, camera and transform controls, a library of primitive and sketch-based shapes, solid-and-hole grouping, Boolean intersection, and reversible chamfer and fillet operations. Users can import STL models, export STL and OBJ files, and work with STEP/B-Rep geometry.
SketchForge 3D runs in a modern web browser from its hosted website. The MIT-licensed source can also be self-hosted with Docker for classrooms, workshops, shared computers, or a local network; projects remain in each user's browser storage.
